1930’s Restored Bureau / Drinks Cabinet

1930’s Restored Bureau / Drinks Cabinet

This was a labour of love.

We had the privilege of being asked to commission a 1936 Bureau. Our customer wanted this very old bureau taken from old to modern. She wanted it turned into an “Art Deco Influenced” drinks cabinet.
We stripped it right back by sanding to reveal this beautiful light wood grain. There were a few repairs that were required, the unit had 2 areas which were veneer (door and the lid).
Our customer was very specific which parts she wanted painted and which bits to leave natural wood.
I sourced a beautiful Art Deco wallpaper to compliment the gold handle and continued the theme throughout with a fan stencil which I added to the mirrors (frost effect) and I painted it on the back of the unit and the shelves. I added a beautiful design of flowers and birds to compliment this elegant cabinet. Lastly I sourced some hanging brass glass racks for the top which just rounded it off beautifully. This magnificent Drink Cabinet was delivered this afternoon and our customer could not believe the transformation and was over the moon.
